Are you qualified?
CAP offers consumers up to $1,200 in financial assistance towards certain emissions-related repairs at a Star Test & Repair station, if their vehicle fails its biennial smog check inspection. In addition, CAP offers consumers $1,000 or $1,500 to retire a qualified vehicle at a BAR contracted dismantler site.
What is CAP?
The Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) is administered by the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) and is designed to help improve California’s air quality.
If approved…
If approved, the applicant must pay the co-payment toward the total cost of diagnosis and emissions-related repairs. The co-payment is based on the model year of your vehicle and the total cost of diagnosis and emissions-related repairs.
